What could be better than earning badges at the National Butterfly Center, where you never know what you will see!  Explore and enjoy wild butterflies, birds of prey, endangered and protected species, and the South Texas specialties that are free to roam, here, where every visit is a unique experience, and each program is designed to provide close encounters with our natural wonders. 

DEADLINE for Registration: Online registration for each activity will close TWO WEEKS prior to the date of the scheduled event.

Saturday, October 12: Earn your NATURALIST badge at the National Butterfly Center. Daisies - Ambassadors are invited to become a butterfly and take off on an adventure down the Hackberry Trail, where girls will learn all about BUGS, FLOWERS, TREES, SKY, WATER and how to MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE.  $15 pp includes programs from 9AM - 12PM, plus all-day park admission; no charge for 2 leaders/troop; parents and siblings pay applicable park admission, only.  All participants are invited to pack a lunch and picnic under the palapa. Saturday, December 14: Earn your DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHER badge in this special workshop for Juniors.  Any digital camera (including camera phones) will do, as you explore the great outdoors to capture your own vision of wildlife and our unique landscape.  $15 pp includes programs from 9AM - 12PM, plus all-day park admission; no charge for 2 leaders/troop; parents and siblings pay applicable park admission, only.  All participants are encouraged to bring a laptop for editing. Saturday, January 18 Earn your FIRST AID badge at the National Butterfly Center, where licensed healthcare professionals from McAllen Primary Urgent Care will 'show and tell' us how to handle real life situations, from scrapes and sprains to cardiac arrest. $15 pp includes programs from 9AM - 12PM, plus all-day park admission, for Daisies - Cadettes.  Seniors, Ambassadors and their troop leaders may choose the American Red Cross CPR Certification course, at $40 per person.  No charge for 2 leaders/troop; parents and siblings pay applicable park admission, only.  All participants are invited to pack a lunch and picnic under the palapa. Saturday, March 29: Earn your great OUTDOORS badge at the National Butterfly Center, where Brownies - Ambassadors are invited to participate in our overnight event.  Camp is anchored by our Metamorphosis TeePee, where you may hold your own midnight council meeting, over hot chocolate and s'mores.  Juniors may earn Camper and Geocacher, while Cadettes may earn Trailblazing and Night Owl badges in this special opportunity to spend the night under the South Texas stars.  $25 pp includes programs from 6:30PM - 7:30AM.  Tents, food, and camping supplies not included. Saturday, May 17: Earn your ANIMAL badge at the National Butterfly Center, where Brownies - Seniors will learn all about animals; from appropriate (and inappropriate) Pets to Habitats, Helpers, and conservation efforts for endangered and protected species, such as the Texas Tortoise and the Texas Indigo. Springtime at in the wild is full of surprises, so join us for a program that is sure to please animal lovers of all ages!  $15 pp includes programs from 9AM - 12PM, plus all-day park admission; no charge for 2 leaders/troop; parents and siblings pay applicable park admission, only.  All participants are invited to pack a lunch and picnic under the palapa.
